Weird Cars: AMC Pacer

All the stories in the news about Detroit's car companies made me think about American Motors, makers of possibly the weirdest American cars: one of which was the Pacer.

Weird Comics

There was a time when weird was a common part of comic books. Literally. These titles represent only some of those that had the word Weird right in the title to let readers know what lay ahead: Weird Fantasy, Weird Mystery Tales, Weird Science, Weird Science Fantasy, Weird War, Weird Western Tales…. Beyond that, there were books like Creepy, Eerie (not to be confused with Eerie), and Vampirella.

Sadly, books like Vault of Evil and Vault of Horror are rarely made these days, and we have sunk into a rut of superheroes... not even Vault of Superheroes. (I miss vaults.) I, for one, would love to see a revival of series like Uncanny Tales from the Grave. Maybe, if comic book writers can avoid some redundancies in titles, it would help keep them from all presenting Adventures into Fear, Mystery, Terror, Weird Worlds, and Alan Ladd.

Scar Jewelry

It's my scar allows you to turn your scar into jewelry. Just send them a picture of your scar, and they'll make an artistic rendering out of wax and then cast the piece in the metal of your choice.

The site claims that having your scar turned into jewelry can be empowering. I imagine it could also be a great form of creepy revenge. If someone accidentally injures you, give them the scar they caused you as jewelry and make sure they wear it all the time!

Native American Dream World

I came across this rather interesting article while surfing on a dream analysis website, and thought it would be the perfect suplement to Nethie's post about brain mapping and reading dreams. It refers to my own people, the Iroqous (League of Six Nations, including the Mohawk) and our unique perspective on the dream world. To this day many of us are guided in life by what our dreams tell us. There are festivals dedicated to dreams, and even battles fought according to visions in dreams.

Slowest Marathon Ever

Now, I can be easily distracted, but I'm nothing compared to this guy. It seems that he stopped for some OJ at a garden party during his run, and just had a hard time starting again. He did eventually finish, 54 years later. Futility Closet

What’s On Your Mind?

Are we just a few steps from being able to read people's minds? Japanese researchers have discovered a way to process mindwaves by deciphering the images we see. In one experiment they flashed a series of letters on a screen and recorded the brain patterns of those watching. The software was able to break down the rough shapes of the letters into recognizable patterns. The Story. Won't be long now before we're all forced to wear tinfoil hats.
