The Town of Swastika, Canada
Swastika is a small town in Ontario, Canada. (wikipedia link). It was founded in 1908, and got its name from a nearby gold mine. Then the Nazis went and adopted the swastika as their symbol, which made things a little awkward for the Swastika townsfolk. But despite pressure from the Canadian government, the townsfolk resisted changing the name of their town. After all, they had the name first! And so the town has kept its unusual name, to the present day.

Wallace Rossall, the “Upside Down Boy”

Poor Wallace Rossall. With his "twisted insides" he was obviously doomed to an early death.
But maybe not!
If this death record pertains to our Wallace--correct birth date; still living in California at time of death--then he lived to the decent age of 65 or 66.

Shark Teeth Dentures
George Middlebrook was a Caribbean shark fisherman who made a pair of shark dentures for himself by taking a wax impression of his mouth, transferring the impression to wet sand, pouring hot lead into the impression, and then inserting shark teeth into the lead. (Google News link.) I wonder if he could actually chew with them? Because of his teeth, he was given a small role in the 1956 movie The Sharkfighters.

The Inflatoplane
Developed by Goodyear in the 1950s, the Inflatoplane could fit in the trunk of a car, and then be inflated to full size in 10 minutes. The idea was that the air force could drop inflatoplanes to pilots stranded in enemy territory, allowing them to fly themselves to safety. But the project was eventually abandoned because of a series of accidents, and the military's concern that the plane could too easily be shot down. Link: bendbulletin.com

Not White Trash—Just Trashed
No one said he was white trash, but the decision to sleep off a bender in a recycling dumpster resulted in the same verdict. After being collected, he was compacted twice but survived with minor injuries.
