Boiled sanitary pads
What I want to know is how they ever found out in the first place that they could get high by boiling used sanitary pads and drinking the water.Adj. Sr. Comr. Suprinarto, the head of the Central Java chapter of the National Narcotics Agency, said it was the chlorine in the boiled mixture that created a feeling of "flying" and hallucinations similar to the sensation experienced when taking certain drugs.
"The used pads they took from the trash were put in boiling water. After it cooled down they drank it together,” Suprinarto said.

Sounds logical to me. Though I notice that Dr. Henderson Smith came out with his idea in late 1973, a few months after Soylent Green had been in theaters. Was that the source of his idea?

Sentenced to watch Bambi
The case was so egregious that Lawrence County Judge Robert George ordered a special addition to the jail time one of the poachers received.
Court records show the defendant "is to view the Walt Disney movie Bambi, with the first viewing being on or before December 23, 2018, and at least one such viewing each month thereafter, during Defendants incarceration in the Lawrence County Jail."

Hasn't the judge seen A Clockwork Orange? For behavioral change, the guy should have been sentenced to watch Bambi constantly with his eyelids held open.

The famous author Robert Louis Stevenson spent a large part of his honeymoon squatting in an abandoned cabin.After their marriage in San Francisco on 19 May 1880, Fanny and Robert Louis Stevenson set off on an adventurous honeymoon to the Napa Valley. Stopping briefly for a night in Vallejo, the Stevenson’s then boarded a train to carry them (and their dog Chuchu) to Calistoga at the northern end of the Valley. They spent the remainder of May in Calistoga, at one of the Hot Springs Hotel cottages. Then, once joined by Fanny’s son Lloyd Osbourne, the family made their way up the grade of Mount St. Helena to the Toll House, from which they found their way to the abandoned Silverado Mine bunkhouse where they would squat until the end of July.

Miller Vortex Bottle
Many of you might remember the Miller vortex bottle. Its selling point was that the neck was ribbed on the inside, which supposedly allowed the beer to pour out faster. Apparently there just wasn't a large enough community of speed drinkers who cared about this to allow the vortex bottle to be much more than a passing gimmick.
