Where’s Mrs. Veal—That Cat Lady?

Not for the faint of heart!!

When Janet Veal hadn't been seen for a while, the officials were notified.

Travel down this lovely country road and you'll find her house.



They had to use a ladder to get into the house for some reason, and found a dead dog, a dead cat, and several live cats.

What had the animals been living on?

Parts of Mrs. Veal.

Her partially eaten body was disconcerting for the officer who discovered her and the coroner who determined she died of natural causes.

What's the lesson? Don't have a heart-attack with a house full of animals if you want an open casket?

Elephants Never Forget

Fifteen elephants keep revisiting the area, near Matari Railway Station in India, where one of the herd was struck down by a train recently. They seem to be bent on revenge as they are damaging houses and blocking the tracks near the site of the accident. Attempts to to chase them off have been only partly successful as the angry, grieving animals keep returning.

Holy Bat-babies, Batman!

This short clip may change your opinion of bats and their scary reputation. My favorite part is where an official from the Australian government says they really need these bats to pollinate the plants.



Trisha Wemberley is my new hero. She stayed up three nights in a row once to care for these orphaned bats.

The first clip shows Robert Downey Jr's first role in the year 1970, in a film by his father, Robert Downey Sr. As an example of late-60's weirdness-- Well, let's hear from Leanne Benson at IMDB:

I saw this film last night at the Barbican in London, apparently it hadn't been shown for thirty years, longer than I've been alive! We were warned at the beginning that it wasn't the easiest film to watch and with that in mind, I actually found it not too difficult to watch. All the characters were very different and I really like the idea of having people play the animals. It was pretty sad but also heartwarming in a way. I loved Robert Downey jr as the puppy, so cute!!!

I would say that the film was pretty bizarre and I'm not sure if I could watch it again for a while but for someone like me who is interested in they ways of past decades, I think it was a brilliant peek into the late sixties. There was one particular character, the old lady who played the dog with the mange problem who I thought was brilliant, amazing styling and directing. A film that should be available to be shown.
