Wouldn’t That Be A Great Band Name?

I know you've had this thought at least once... you and your friends are sitting around, drinking a few brewskis (or shooters or whatever it is you drink). One of your friends says something completely off the wall and you think, "that'd be a great band name." Oddly enough, that is how some of the best known bands get their names. Other bands have their names chosen for them by record producers or managers (how boring). In the end, how a band gets its name seems to be as different from one band to the next as their various playing styles. Here is a comprehensive list, in alphabetical order, of some of the most popular bands in recent history and where their names come from. I admit that the list itself is not particularly weird, but the way some of the bands ended up with their current names definitely is.

What Can’t You Do with Legos

Designer Nils Völker, from Berlin, built a drawing Lego robot that tracks and records eye movement of it's visitors. Hanging from the ceiling and positioned over a pile of paper, the robot makes one dot wherever the visitor looks. It's an experimental exhibit that explores how different people see the same thing in a different way. The exhibit will be on display in Eindhoven, Netherlands until June 14th. Fabrik

Murals That Move

Murals are usually large works of art or paintings used to hide an unsightly wall. But Artist Rufus B. Seder has taken murals to the next level. His Lifetile murals are "movies for a wall". Lifetiles don't use electricity, moving parts or tricky lighting. They are optical illusions, with flair. You can read more about Lifetiles, but I recommend watching the video.

Fun With Peeps

In keeping with all of the food posts recently, I provide images that might scar you for life. (Be warned! The music from the official Peeps website will slowly drive you insane.) Peeps, the traditional marshmellow Easter candy, isn't just for eating anymore. The Chicago Tribune holds a contest every year for the most creative use of Peeps. Some of these entries are cute, others are a bit weird (some of the non-winning entries go beyond weird into pure freakishness), but all of them say "I have way too much free time."
