Funeral Potatoes
The dish that most people in America know as potato casserole is referred to by Mormons as "funeral potatoes." Because it's customary for Mormons to serve this potato dish at funerals. The logic, I suppose, is that it's comfort food. Wikipedia says that the typical ingredients of funeral potatoes are: "hash browns or cubed potatoes, cheese (cheddar or Parmesan), onions, cream soup (chicken, mushroom, or celery) or a cream sauce, sour cream, and is topped with butter and corn flakes or crushed potato chips."
Funeral potatoes are one of a number of foods specifically associated with funerals in some cultures. Another example, previously mentioned here on WU, is Yorkshire Funeral Biscuits. And the Amish have a dish they call Funeral Pie, which is a raisin pie.
There must be other funeral-specific dishes, but I haven't yet found them.

Newly available: cake in a spray can. Just spray, microwave, and eat.But, of course, you'll also need some spray can frosting. That's already been available for a couple of years.

Chirps Cricket Chips
Available now for pre-order. They're chips made of cricket flour. I'd be willing to try them because from what I've heard crickets don't taste bad at all. And if they don't look anything like crickets, all the better! Though I have a hard time imagining these will ever go mainstream.

Ham Banana Rolls
Recipe from the Dec 1947 issue of Woman's Day, via Retro-Rama Mama.
The Retro Recipe Attempts blog decided to make the thing, and their verdict was that "it actually wasn’t as bad as you’d expect from ham stuffed with a mustardy banana. If you got a bite with a good distribution of banana, ham, mustard, and cheese, the flavors almost worked. ALMOST. (If you got a bite with just banana and American cheese, well, barf.)"

Rabbit Pizza
New Zealand's Hell Pizza is introducing rabbit pizza just in time for Easter. And they're advertising it with billboards covered in rabbit skins. To make the pizza, they combine the rabbit meat with spiced beetroot and horopito relish, and then add pine nuts and cream cheese as toppings. Hell Pizza says it's a "beautiful subtle flavor".
