Taking A Shot At Teaching
A 73 year old man teaching a conceal carry class in Ohio made the cardinal mistake when handling a firearm. He thought the gun was empty and dry fired it without checking. The bullet that was, of course, in the gun ricocheted off a metal desk and struck a man taking the class. Not a class to teach by negative example.

Revolver Camera
Paul once posted about a camera that looked like a gun. This does that one better. It's a camera AND a gun. Pull the trigger and it simultaneously takes a picture of and shoots a bullet at whomever you're aiming the gun at. It was created and used in the late 1930s in New York City. [via petapixel]

Making Tactical Flowers
After firing his assortment of guns under water Andrew Tuohy collects the bullet 'blossoms' and makes what he calls tactical flowers for his mother. Both the pictures of the guns being fired and the flowers made from the bullets, pictured at the link, are artistic and beautiful.

Shotgun Tazer
A shotgun shell that is a self contained tazer has been in development for several years and is now being offered to law enforcement for use. There is a specialty Mossburg shotgun that can be bought with the shells but they can be fired from a standard shotgun as well. Non-lethal force that can be used at a greater distance than regular tazers, this could be safer for both cops and criminals. Besides, its a neat piece of tech. For more info go here.

But if there is one food that might possibly challenge bacon as the mightily meaty master of my heart, it would be southern fried chicken. So what could be better than a sandwich that includes both? Well, how about one that leaves out that pointless bread stuff and puts the slices of gorgeous bacon between two hot, fresh fried chicken fillets? That is the idea behind what some reports are claiming is the latest creation from KFC, the “double-down” sandwich. Bacon, cheese and the “Colonel’s special sauce” are sandwiched between the chain’s house-style fried chicken in a heart-stopping 1200 calorie mouthful. And the day this launches near me officially marks the end of my banana diet (AJC).

I’ll Huff And I’ll Puff…
From the BBC children's science show "Bang Goes The Theory...", engineer Jem Stansfield builds himself a giant vortex cannon, and tries to knock down buildings made of straw, wood and bricks...Impressive, though I'm sure the "Big Bad Wolf" would not have had much of a problem if the third little pig had likewise left out the mortar. Mind you, one of these is just what I need to keep the neighborhood cats out of my garden! :cheese:
