Holy Assisted Arrest Batman!!

Start singing that Batman theme song!! Da, da, da, da, da, da,da, da...

Even though Batman has been in better shape, that's no reason he can't continue his crime-fighting ways in jolly old England!! BAM!! POW!!

Take the bad guy to the jail, and justice will eventually prevail.

After you explain the costume, that is.

Authorities still don't know who Batman is -- any guesses? (besides Bruce Wayne)

When Thief Meets Thief

One of the weirdest writers in history was Harry Stephen Keeler.

His sentences were as eccentric as his plots. Viz:

"I know how to get to the inside of a chilled-steel receptacle with no more noise than a cockroach, drunk after emerging from an uncorked gin-bottle in a garbage can, would make as he sneaked back to Mrs. C., waiting up to biff him on the beezer for leaving her to mind the youngsters while he went skyhooting. "

That gem comes from When Thief Meets Thief.

You may read the first chapter here.

Or listen to it below.

The Collector

Nowadays, stories about men, women and children being kept prisoner in strange circumstances--sometimes for years or decades--are so common that I'm certain Chuck will soon declare them "no longer weird."

But fifty years ago, such stories seemed more rare. One such inspired the classic novel by John Fowles, The Collector, which appeared in 1963.

The trailer of the film version can be seen above.

Fowles was inspired in part by a true story. I believe I've found that account, as seen below.

Enjoy the debut of what was to become a whole category of weird news.

Mother’s Day

image
Mother's Day is next Sunday, May 8th, and I'm sure we all have nice things planned for our Moms. But few of us will have as thoughtful and extravagant a gift in mind as Tamik Kirkland, pictured to the right.

Upon hearing that his Mom had been shot, Kirkland broke out of jail (with only ten months left to serve) and went on a violence-filled revenge spree, including bursting from concealment in a car trunk with gun blazing.

Read about it here.

Now that's filial devotion!

SWAT Team Responds to Buriito Outrage

What do you do when the price of a burrito goes up? If you order seven and can't take the price increase, the next thought is to threaten the Taco Bell with a gun -- an air gun. Here's a picture of the SWAT team responding to the burrito outrage:

Here's the link for the story in San Antonio, with a cryptic "who shot out the police car window" speculation.

The suspect's BB gun hadn't been fired.

But tear gas got him out.

I know the economy is bad, but a three hour standoff over $3.50?

Lip Tattoo Easily Identified

More stupid criminal stories include Anthony Brandon Gonzales' attempt to hide his face behind a mask which still revealed his lip tattoo -- and his "13" goatee tattoo.

image

I'm guessing for the line-up they'll have to draw tattoos on the innocent guys -- just don't use permament marker!!
