A New Standard Of Ridiculousness In The UK

image
Fitting that the UK has been referred to as the Nanny State because the over protective idiocy has filtered down to the playground. There is now a 'No best friend' policy at some elementary schools. This is to protect all the little snowflakes from the trauma of have a falling out with their best friend. If this is the way things continue to go then the next generation will be even less able to deal with the downturns in life than the ones now. Reality is rough and painful sometimes but we all have to experience it.

You Yanks are soooo gullible. Read the article again. No names, no locations, just hearsay. Someones just taking the piss.

And you Brits don't pay close attention. Read it again...

From the article:
"Educational psychologist Gaynor Sbuttoni, who provides counselling for children in London, said the practice of teachers encouraging kids to play in large groups instead of developing tight-knit bonds is increasingly common."

also...
"Ms Sbuttoni added: 'If they break up, they have to feel the pain because then they're learning to deal with it."

Sounds like a load of crap to me!

I commented on this moronic policy on another site and I'll repeat it here albeit it is of a political nature.

It's called social engineering. Herd animals are easier to control than predators.

There's an interesting thought Expat.

What, the UK is the "Nanny State" now? I thought it was New York!

Come on Daily Mail, make your mind up! 😖

Besides, close friendships cause cancer, or cure it. I'm sure the Mail will tell us in a day or so.

Redstripe11: READ IT AGAIN....
No teachers named, no administrative staff named, no schools named.

One person of unknown reputation making acusations with no facts to back them up.

@Charles: Here's an excerpt from the article in The Sun. It sounds like an official speaking to me.

Russell Hobby, of the National Association of Head Teachers, confirmed some schools were adopting best-friend bans.

He said: "I don't think it is widespread but it is clearly happening. It seems bizarre.

THE SUN! You´re quoting THE SUN?
That´s hilarious. What next, The National Enquirer?
Posted by Charles on 03/23/12 at 04:30 PM
I get all my Bat-boy updates from the Enquirer that other media are afraid to print. I think it's because they just cave to the government pressure to keep it a secret.

Seriously though, ridiculous things are happening on both sides of the pond so I'd be very reluctant to start throwing any stones when we both occupy glass houses.

Google 'No best friends policy in UK' and see how many links come up Charles. Then believe it or don't, it is still a good story.

Believing something just because you "Googled" it is on the same level as believing something because you read it on Wikipidea.

Now you are losing me Charles. Dogmatically clinging to an unsupported view in the face of converging lines of evidence rarely leads to vindication. Individual sources are never infallible, but you'd be hard pressed to argue that the likelihood doesn't climb rapidly as you increase the number of sources, that don't cite each other and come to the same finding, accumulate.

Maybe he just doesn't like to be bathed in defeat.

Is it still a "nanny state" if you are actually talking about kids at elementary school? A nanny state is one that infantalises its members, taking away personal choice "for their own good."

Is it possible to infantalise infants? 😕

I'd suggest we rename the UK "Dumbf**kistan" in honour of all the stupid rules, regulations, decisions, legal rulings and punditry there; but there are so many other claimants to that title it's hard to choose just one.
😊
