I checked Wiki to see what a carpet snake was. It is similar to a python. BUT it usually grows to 2 to 2.5 metres or about 6' to 8' NOT 16'.

It is a bit late to start editing the article, but they use "incredulous" when they mean "incredible".
My Wiki says that some species of carpet python can get to 13 feet. Maybe one snacking on kids could get a bit bigger.
