No... it was Maynard G. Krebs on the Dobby Gillis Show, IIRC.

In Canada we knew it as The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Two guys in their mid-twenties playing high school students (Dwayne Hickman and Bob Denver).

Could have been, Harvey, I don't ever remember watching a whole episode.

@Harvey: That was the official title here in the states, too. As a teen-aged boy at the time, I shared Dobie's interest in Thalia Menninger, played by Tuesday Weld, who had success playing sex kittens in movies. Another member of the cast became a Hollywood star: Warren Beatty. Sheila Kuehl, who played Zelda, who was always chasing Dobie, later served 14 years in the California State Assembly and State Senate, and was notably the first openly gay or lesbian person elected to the legislature.

Expat: Like they say about the sixties, if you can remember them, you weren't there. I have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast and apart from the squeaky clean Dobie, the main impression I retain is the Maynard G Krebs beatnik routine. That snippet was typical.

Nice to have a voyage down what remains of memory lane.

I've herad the name, but have never seen the show. I only ever saw Bob Denver play Gilligan. As a side note I remember hearing he was a notorious pothead.
