Brendan O’Connell, Wal-Mart Artist

Artists find inspiration in all kinds of unusual places. Brendan O'Connell got inspired by shopping at Wal-Mart and started painting scenes from inside Wal-Mart stores. He's achieved quite a bit of success, to the point that his paintings now fetch up to $40,000. Which means they're not going to be on sale at Wal-Mart anytime soon. However, the company has purchased one of his paintings. [msn.com]

Sort of an Impressionist feel to the paintings in the Marc Chagall style. I'm surprised that the paintings can fetch a bundle and the artist isn't dead! 😊

Isn't there an app or filter for a graphics program that will do this automatically?

Expat, I'm taking the description at its word and these are real hand drawn, media on canvas paintings. You are right though, there are any number of software applications that will do Impressionist style alterations to an image.

It's about time an artist got paid in their lifetime. Not really my thing but at least it's gives me a little hope that one day it may happen to me. 😊

He needs to go paint Patty in the Walmart pharmacy. I'd buy the painting.
