Brigit the Underwear Thief

Most cats, if allowed out, will bring home birds, rodents, and other critters that they've caught. But Brigit, a 6-year-old tonkinese who lives in Hamilton, New Zealand, has been bringing home underwear and socks. Lots of them. Says her owner, "It's all men's. It's really, really weird. She's got really specific taste."

Brigit's owner has distributed flyers on the street in an attempt to reunite the underwear with the person it belongs to. But so far no one has claimed it.

Another reason cats should be kept in doors. Spaying/neutering only does so much. Keep the cats in doors to prevent this as well as the senseless killing of small birds and animals.

@Rob: My solution can also help with roaming.

You have to wonder what goes through their little minds when this happens.

On the other hand, I no longer wonder what my pets think when they see me stepping out of the shower in the morning.

She's seeking the owner(s) of the underwear, to return their belongings, but perhaps that's the wrong question: maybe they ought to ask if there are any missing men in the area...

I've been wondering why my underwear drawer has been getting emptier and emptier. What? You don't approve of striped briefs? 10 pairs? That'd last me a month.

If I wore underwear like that, I sure as heck wouldn't claim it!

I wonder what would happen if the owner hid some of it around her yard. Would the cat be satisfied to reclaim it instead of going far afield to find new ones?

There appears to be several matching pair of shorts and socks. Got to give this kitty credit for that. It is in need of some kitty therapy from a cat therapists. Or perhaps she is attempting to raise an alarm that the persons clothing she steals is actually a human pervert of some kind. Well I like cats, except the one that dragged in a half dead pygmy rattle snake and left it in the dirty laundry basket at home for my wife to find while sorting the laundry. She was not amused.

@Patty : Expats solution also helps with marksmanship which is an important skill in the US today.

Um, guys? What if it's not the cat stealing underwear?
Maybe she's killing underwear gnomes and bringing their loot home to her owner(servant?) so he can find the true owners?

That's entirely true, Captn, 'cause we know cats are the personification of all evil.

The shear amount of anti-feline prejudice and kitty bigotry displayed here is, quite frankly, appalling in the extreme. I thought y'all were better than tha... well, no, no I didn't. :coolmad:

Expat: yes, it's called the guillotine.
KDP: you're assuming they have enough to be called a mind.
Daft: it might be the owner... we all know cat-lovers are prone to, erm, unclear episodes.
