Cat takes center stage

November 12, 1951: As British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden was delivering an address at a meeting of the General Assembly of the U.N. in Paris, urging calm in Europe, a black cat suddenly got up on the stage and strolled across it, without a care in the world. This prompted discussion in the media as to whether the cat was a sign of good or bad luck. It was finally agreed to be a sign of good luck since a black cat in France is apparently a good omen (which I didn't know).

I think most political speeches would be greatly improved if cats randomly wandered across the stage during them.

Cats are good luck! They are very loving pets, I even talked BD into letting us bring one down for his daughter when we visit on Halloween weekend.

Being Halloween I'm looking for things that go hump in the night.

Seeing how any and every right thinking person in the whole wide world KNOWS that black cats are familiars of witches, are minions of beelzebub himself, and as evil as anything that walks the earth it only stands to reason that the French would think them an omen (an evil word itself) of good luck.

@BD: Name the cat 'Target' or, if you've got dogs, 'Protein' is appropriate.

A black cat crossing your path was always regarded as good luck in England. Black dogs on the other hand...

Cats are like quadriplegic dogs, it doesn't make any difference what you name them they ain't coming when you call.

I'm sure that any kitty that patty would give as a gift would have to be sweet! As long as She's giving it to someone other than your humble commenter!(Commentator?)
