Clowns for Jesus huh? Isn't that the normal way of things?

Hey......someone had to say it. No need to get in a kerfluffle, I was only joking.

Patty "kerfuffle" seems to be a variation of "carfuffle". Hope this helps.

LOL!
Yep, it's actually kerfuffle, but I've always liked kerfluffle better.

ker·fuf·fle
Pronunciation:
\kər-ˈfə-fəl\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
alteration of carfuffle, from Scots car- (probably from Scottish Gaelic cearr wrong, awkward) + fuffle to become disheveled
Date:
1946

See, fluffle makes more sense.

Jeff - I'm sorry but I have to ask. When in the hell did Jesus use elements of humor? Wait, wait, wait...I know when.

It's when he cursed the fig tree for not producing figs....when it wasn't fig season. (Mark 11:12-14)

Or when Jesus said, "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother...he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26).

Or, when at the wedding when they ran out of wine and Mary went to Jesus. Jesus turned to her and said, "Woman, what have I to do with thee?" (John 2:4).

Could also be when he told the "Rock" of his church, Peter, .....Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.(Matthew 16:23)

It seems as though Jesus used alot of irrational anger but I don't see any humor. Well, you know, outside of the whole redeemer thing being humorous.

WTF? - Why does everyone assume something had to have happened that was so bad that drove me away from religion? Are christians really that pompass to assume that something horrible must have happened? Don't answer cause I know. I was just brought up in a christian family.

As far as Pliny and Tacitus, both were born too late to be reliable sources. Also, neither refers to Jesus but only to christians so they are not even considered by historians and scholars.

Josephus, who would have been a contemporary of Jesus, is also not reliable as a source. The tiny passage about Jesus is considered by historians and scholars to have been inserted by the fourth century Catholic bishop Eusebius, eager to prove the legitimacy of the church. Josephus was a jew through and through but the passage refers to Jesus as the Christ. Highly unlikely for a jew. Also, Eusebius was the first church father to use the passage even though the book had been available and quoted by other leaders. Eusebius was also known for pious lying and had admitted to it.

And just because people die for it doesn't make it any more legit than Jim Jones or Manson.

Rodger, nice try but your cold. I'm not trying to remove any specs. Believe what you want. I just want to know where knowledge of god comes from if not from the bible. I think most people who claim to believe in God would be appalled by the God of the old testament. Also, I think most would be surprised that America was not founded on christian values and that the Jerusalem Church after Jesus died was communistic. All members turned over all possessions to the church who then would distribute them to all members as needed. In fact, in Acts 5, Ananias and his wifey Saphira were struck dead by God for holding back. In my opinion most people say they believe in God but they have a unique idea of God different than what is offered in his book. So I just wonder, where does it come from?

Maxx: Sometimes reading what you write about religion...I have to sneak a peek into the bedroom to make sure the husband is really asleep because he says the exact same things. He was raised in a zealot family and can quote pretty much anything out of the bible you want and he knows the history of all kinds of crap like that. Yes, I called it crap.
He has nothing to do with religion now. Nothing at all. Except for eyerolling.
Personally I see the bible as folklore. Something written by storytellers.

patty - you bring up points and help get my mind going. Keep up with your comments. It's sort of like brainstorming. Maybe all the points aren't relevant but they can spark ideas in other minds.

AGFH - You are a lucky woman! LOL If needed, I can give you my wife's cell number and maybe you can call her when your better half starts in with his ramblings. I know I drive my wife nuts with mine!

Jeff - just because Michael Jackson says something doesn't make it true. I believe there is a much older statement that refutes Jackson's. Oh, and thanks for the dialog. Hopefully other readers have been educated through the discussion (and realize that christianity relies on half-truths, exaggerations, and full all out lies to try and spread their message of love.

My point through out all of this is to show people that they don't believe in God as much as a god concept. They call it God because they have been raised in a Judeo-Christian society that makes the assumption that God is out there. Really they are Deists.

Allright,now I'll stop. (cheers!)

Everytime that I think I am out....they pull me back in. LOL

My apologies Rodger. I guess I was in attack mode. My bad and I now understand your point (yes, I can be thick sometimes). You were actually answering the question.

Personally I don't think the passage was meant to be humorous. I think the point is to stop worrying so much about others and their problems or issues and focus on your own problems/issues.
