Cold Weather Effects IQ

Does reading the following stories make you wonder if the average IQ drops during cold weather?

In St. Petersburg ,Florida a family was hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. This following 12 hours in which the family used a charcoal grill in the living room for heat as their electricity was not working.

of course it was a guy throwing gas in the fireplace! as for the grill, it wasn't even a gas grill (which still would have gassed them) but a charcoal grill. it'a a wonder they didn't die of smoke inhalation before the carbon monoxide could make them sick. new definition for the term 'brain freeze'.

I have to say, the reason these stories are showing up, is because people who live in the south aren't used to the type of cold weather we've been having recently. Records are breaking all over the country. Even my parents have resorted to using their fireplace, which hasn't been touched in _18_ years. While the men showed a lack of intelligence, I feel sorry for these families that have to resort to such measures just to keep warm in this day and age.

One reads about charcoal brazers all the time in books and sees them in use in movies. So, naturally, why not use them in today's houses? 😛

Gasoline in the fireplace is just dumb!

well you can work up quite a sweat vomiting while gasping at the o2 depleated air.

Ah yes, my lovely county in the land of Florida. The sad part is, the family in the first story isn't even the first one of the year. Or the second. Or the third.

People down here just have no idea how to keep warm in prolonged cold weather. At least 70% of people in my area have no form of heat (and who would, when 10 months of the year reach 95+ degrees...) so they resort to whatever is "necessary" to warm themselves.

I suppose it's better that the hobos have gathered in the cemetery and are sharing their boxes with coyotes for warmth? (True story.)

atleast what's left will already be where it belong after the coyotes get hungry.
