delusional sovereignty

The delusional "sovereignty" of Joel and Donna Brinkle
In the 1990s, they "dropped out" of the U.S. by declaring themselves a sovereignty, right there in Seminole County, near Orlando. No taxes. Print their own money. Claim anyone's property they think they deserve. And they're relentless, even though Joel went to prison for a while, and even though they live in a dump because they've been ejected from every place they tried to claim. You'd think they'd have reconsidered some of this over the years, but no, there's Donna smiling broadly for this story, still feeling terribly oppressed. Finally, though, the state is cracking down. While I agree with your sentiment, Social Security is something they've paid for over the years and, hence, is an entitlement not a grant or freebee.

The money they put in is long gone. That's my money.

Do they get utilities from the US? Where do they buy groceries? Do they have to pay duties or excise on those to cross the border?

You never know with people... I once (long ago, at another company) had a woman apply for a loan with the president of the US listed as a coborrower because she had a billion-dollar lawsuit pending. Because she felt she had not been treated fairly. Because she couldn't find a job. Yeah.

I hereby declare my independence fomr the United States. As a Canadian, will I be required to fill out some form of declaration to that effect?
