Drink Water Now!

Vittel has introduced a water bottle cap with a built-in timer. After an hour a little flag pops up on top of the cap, reminding you that it's now time to drink more water. Just in case you forgot. Apparently this is a problem for some people.

The only thing I don´t forget these days is that I have to pee all the time.

Oooh great. Now terrorists have cheap timers for their bombs.

Without making a personal comment on the intelligence of the average citizen, I like how the ad campaign pushes the concept that the average customer is too stupid to drink something when they are thirsty. I wonder how they would assemble a campaign for toilet paper?

Oh, yeah, as if we need more plastic bottles being thrown away by hipsters overdosing on "so much better for you" plastic-bottled water.

Hardly anybody in the Western world actually is getting too little water. That's just another web-board-spread myth. Just eat healthily and drink a moderate amount of tea. If you prefer water, tap water is better for you than chalk-and-radium-laced mineral water. No, really, it is. Bottled water is not better for you than normal water, and it's a damned sight worse for the environment.

Bottled water: just say no to the scam.

Richard, if bottled water isn't good for you why are they charging €3 or a half litre of the stuff at the Paris airport?? Anything that costs that much (about 4x more than gasoline) HAS to be good for you!

If you travel to a place where the tap water (or any water) is iffy, it is better to drink a low alcohol beer than the bottled water:
-It is usually cheaper.
-You need clean to brew it.
-The glass bottles will be recycled.
-That expensive bottled water may be locally produced from tap water.

I'm enough of a health nut that I don't like to drink anything unless it's been sterilized by adding alcohol to it.

Sounds like a solid plan to me Phideaux.

The story reminds me of a blonde joke:
A blonde walks into a salon and requests a hair cut with the stipulation that the stylist not remove the blonde's headphones during it. Well, the blonde dozes off while being worked on and the stylist thinks, "This is ridiculous, she'll never know" and removes the headphones to make it easier to work. Suddenly the blonde falls to the floor and flops around and dies. The stylist is stunned and picks up the headphones and listens, "breathe in breathe out breathe in breathe out breat..."
