Flaming Bagpipes

Back in the day, the pipes were a weapon of terror on the battle field. Since then they've only become a subject of love or hate depending on one's auditory preferences.

Well.... the terror is back!

Tis a bonny, grand sporran the wee lad is a sportin, neu?

A wee dram for the piper! Slaìnte mhath!

Flames shooting out of the pipes? That's a powerful amount of Scotch he's downed, I'll warrant!

The downside to a furry sporran is keeping it clean when you eat. Brushing it is a pain, too.

The psychological warfare aspect of the pipes is still used. Apparently, there is nothing that compares to sitting in a First World War trench at midnight and hearing a lone piper play a lament. It's impressive enough listening to a lone piper sitting in the crowd at the Edinburgh Tattoo, and there you're not at war.

Seeing someone like this guy playing the pipes makes you glad that he is nowhere near an edged weapon, but makes you wonder how much more berserk the actual guys on the front line are. Almost makes you sorry for Longshanks. Nah, just kidding - nothing would do that!

Most people think the pipes sound like a moose on the rack, but how could you not like that? That's showmanship.

Weird, and good.

Thanks!

Traditional instruments used in offbeat applications are always a lot of fun. Expect the unexpected.
