Follies of the Madmen #208

Where to begin with this long ad? The surrealism of a Corvette on the Bonanza set? The notion that a sexy spy like Napolean Solo would drive a Corvair? The mashup of Bewitched with Bonanza characters, including the ultra-campy Agnes Moorehead? It's a commercial that just keeps on giving in the weirdness department.

Grandma had the 1st color TV on the block just for Bonanza so, if Loren Green was selling it... she was ready to buy it!

Jeez. Now I'm feeling really old. It was Lorne Greene, not Loren. Don't know how many readers are old enough to know that.

And everyone in that ad is dead, except for Robert Vaughn.

That was a great comercial and it looked like they had fun making it. My hubby is a 1965 model and he is still in pretty good shape.

I don't know--a thrill-seeking, fearless superspy might drive a car Unsafe at Any Speed. "After these messages, The Affair of Please Don't Rear-End Me."
