Follies of the Madmen #215

Does anyone under the age of fifty even know who Felix the Cat is anymore? Having a character born in 1919 as your "hip" cartoon representative seems a somewhat dubious move to me. And Felix is only onscreen for like a millisecond.

Felix was around when I was a whipper-snapper. He even made some white bibles and XXX movies.

I always liked his friend, Poindexter, a nerd before his time. Also, I didn't realize that the cartoons were in color until many years later - my father refused to buy a color television until the early 1970's, some ten years after they came into general use.

I know who Felix the Cat is, and I'm under 50 and not even from the USA. You may be underestimating the popularity of Felix. (Then again, I also know and prefer Krazy Kat, so maybe I'm just weird.)

Yes, Felix has been around lately - made in Germany of all places! The cartoons from the 1990s even captured a little of the old style of animation and the jokes with modern riffs; I recall an episode where Felix has to deliver a meat-lover's pizza in a certain time frame, and first his GPS then his car breaks down , so he Parkour's his way to his target, having to dodge a Vegetarian demonstration on the way 9 One placard of which read "Meat Is Foo!" )
