Group Baptism by Firehose

Conducted under the auspices of the famous and fabulous United House of Prayer for All People, whose founder was "Sweet Daddy Grace," as depicted below.

I heartily endorse any institution whose leaders inherit the title of "Sweet Daddy."

The kooky fertile ground of faith. I think all faiths are weird in their own way, From the latest cult to sun worship. It never fails to intrigue me what folks are willing to believe. The "love offerings" euphemism gave me a good laugh.

Now, we need a followup on Reverend Ike, who actually sold hope to a whole subculture of the 50s while carrying the meme forward. The Rev toured the country, mostly through the rural south, in a tricked-out bus complete with a portable golden throne and a flashy coterie of Raeletts-like 'backup singers'. Good times.
