Hair Trader

image
In the current economic recession, a lot of people are making some extra money by selling whatever gold they have in their house. Another option is to sell your hair.

Hair Trader describes itself as "the world's largest independent hair sale site."

I'm curious if there are any buyers other than wig makers. If so, what possible use could they have for someone else's hair?

People have been making art like this out of human hair for goodness knows how long:

There are some great examples of it in the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine.

I once cut off two feet of hair, and the stylist asked me if I wanted to keep it. I had no idea what she was talking about (after all, I didn't need any new hair art like AGFH has). Before I even left the salon, my hair was being braided into someone's weave. I coulda made a mint!!! Dammit!!!

I could have gotten paid for my hair? Stupid me for giving it to charity.

I did that last time I had my hair cut shorter (11 inches of hair). It's a great way to help out someone less fortunate at no cost to you. Your hair has to be 10 inches long (the ponytail), but any color, texture, etc is welcome. You can donate it to Locks of Love (http://www.locksoflove.org/) and it goes to needy children who have lost their hair for some reason.
