Horrible Norman Lear Show

This little clip proves that even geniuses can fail. The show lasted two whole episodes.

Did anyone catch this when it first aired?

Info here.

Never saw this before. It seems like a throwback to the 'Petticoat Junction' type of show. At least to me.

Eight episodes filmed, only two aired, insofar as I can research.

Considering that Coleman would go on to the critically acclaimed "Buffalo Bill" series and McClanahan would appear in "Golden Girls" this faux pas apparently didn't restrict their careers.

If you can find it, you must see the "Hit The Road, Jack" sequence from the "Buffalo Bill" series. One of the funniest comedy bits I've ever seen.

Brings to mind "That Show Sucked" with Ma and Eddie Reardon, a recurrent skit featuring a disfunctional family of couch potatoes who were wannabe TV critics. It was very funny, but unfortunately all I can find is a bit of audio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hrsfu7aEnCc.

YES! I did see this show! Well maybe 5 minutes of it, As I'm a pretty harsh critic when i find something really bad. I remember it because my family like most of the world loved Norman Lear's other shows and thought we would like this one as well. It's hard to believe that the same guy that brought us All in the family, Sanford and son, The Jeffersons, Good Times, One day at a time and Maude had ANYTHING to do with this turkey!!
BTW he also founded PEOPLE FOR THE AMERICAN WAY!
