The rat problem is so bad in South Africa, you can redeem 60 dead rats for a FREE cell phone.

Sounds like a plan to me. Gives the kids something to do and keeps the rat population in check.

Willard wasn't a rat. Willard was the weirdo who trained the army of rats. Ben was the rat who led the other rats in killing Willard after he regretted what he did and started drowning the rats. Ernest Borgnine was in the "Willard" movie as Willard's bad boss that he killed with his army of rats.

There's a great story of a 1902 bounty that the French colonial government put on rats to get control the rat population in Hanoi. People were paid for each rat tail. The rats had been brought in by the sewers the French had built to service their villas. The sewers served as rat feeding stations and rat highways, bringing them right into those fancy villas.
The colonial government paid for a lot of tails, but there was no dent in the rat population.
