Human Authored

The Authors Guild is now offering a certificate that an author can display on their book "to certify that their book is created by a human."

More specifically:

"Human Authored" means that the text of the book was written by a human and not generated by AI, with the exception of minimal, trivial uses, such as AI applications that check spelling and grammar or for brainstorming or research.

I wonder if an author will first have to pass a Voight-Kampff test to prove they're human and not a replicant.

When I was in the monastery, I was involved with our publications office. One of my tasks was reviewing book manuscripts that had been submitted for possible publication. At the time AI (as we now know it) was not an issue, but I passed this article info along to the friars, just in case they want to reassure readers. I recall reading a few things that would have benefited from an injection of intelligence of any kind.

Now we need a Human Verified badge to show that the book has been spell-checked by a human. There are so much mistakes AI can do when it's "correcting" the spelling and grammar of a book, article, letter, etc.

As someone who works in computing: this is not weird, this (or rather, the fact that this is necessary) is terrifying.
