incorrigible kid

Warm up a cell right now for this 5-year-old because it's just a matter of time
The kid was being so bad on the school bus that they kicked him off for five days, and his dad gave him some tough love by refusing to drive him to school but, rather, making him walk the whole 2½ hours back and forth every day of the suspension. Come the following Monday, suspension lifted, back on the bus, lesson learned! Um, no. Exactly three stops after picking the kid up, the driver had to kick him off again. Lucky kid. God help me if I got kicked off the bus, and believe me my lesson would have been learned. Is there a point when the time out chair, the talking and restrictions end? When do you adjust his attitude with a "switch". maybe after getting kicked off the bus the second time?

They've only mentioned the apple core and a fight with his sister. How many instances of bus-aggression were ther, to warrant expulsion?

I was raised by my aunt. I lived close enough to school that I did not require a bus ride. HOWEVER, once, and only once, did I get into a scuffle on the way to school. That night at the dinner table I was not comfortable sitting, standing, crouching over, etc. I never got into trouble again! Once was the number that tipped the scales for my aunt. Experiencing the repercussions of my actions ONCE was enough for me!

Find a wood shed. Introduce the rules of membership to the young lad. Paying the membership dues once should do the trick. Oh, and newspaper coverage cannot be doing any harm to the fathers business.

That suggestion, Maxx, might cause brain damage on this kid.

Patty - along those same lines: a friend of mine did something spectacularly stupid and got caught. What did her mother do? Made up signs and started posted them around (their very small) town about the really really dumb thing she did. You are correct, humiliation is a fabulous tool!
