Internet Movie Cars Database

Car buffs are fanatical. A group of them has compiled a database of car appearances in films, the Internet Movie Cars Database, to accompany the more famous IMDB.

With screen captures.

So suppose, like me, you once drove a Mercury Marauder, circa 1973. You can now nostalgically learn all the times that make and model of vehicle appeared onscreen.

My car looked exactly like the one below, down to the paint job.

Mom's brother had a Marauder that he let sit in a barn for some twenty years. Said he was going to let his son have it. AFAIK the mice got to the interior and it ended up going to a junk yard. Looked like a decent car, though.

In older movies, I like to look at the background cars and pick out the number of air-cooled Volkswagens.

That '59 Chevy Impala convertible probably qualified me to drive an aircraft carrier.

Mine didn't come equipped like this one, though:

My 1966 Olds Toronado probably qualified as a land yacht, if for no other reason than the doors were so long, in an emergency, you could have used them as sails.
