You may be surprised, but it takes a fair amount of practice to get the tip to snap consistently. We had buggy whips on the farm, which are similar, and I remember the first time I tried I caught the tip across my cheek on the back swing.

Bull Whips & Romance only go together if your into some serious S&M and I'm talking blood & flayed skin.
I used to have an 8ft bull whip but it was better than 4ply and cost a whole bunch more than $1.98! KDP's right, if you don't know what you're doing you'll, most likely, do more damage to yourself than anything else. That "crack" when you get it right is the tip breaking the sound barrier

Nope, nope, nope, no BDSM for me! In the last Indiana Jones movie they explain the scar on his chin as being from the first time he tried to crack a whip when he was a boy.
