The Reverend Kayser sounds like a real piece of work. German propagandist, adulterer, real-estate conman, and possible saboteur. A man accumulates a lot of possible murderers with that resume.

Bonus points for being named "Kayser" during World War I.

Hands and feet tied, two bullet holes in the body, a bloody trail leading from the library to a spot 40 feet away from the house --- this sounds like a Chicago suicide to me.

Wow, a real live murder mystery! It was Rev Kayser on the front lawn with a revolver. Oh darn, that's not right, the Rev was the victim here.
