Sure it's cushy. They aren't gonna be on the ground fighting like the Marines and the Army will be. But that's ok. It takes all the branches for the military to be successful.

Maxx, yup, I won. Got stationed on a bird-farm out of Mayport, FL and spent my time floating around the Med. where I met my wife. (Note current address)
I had a chance to get transferred to Vien Nam and live out my days (avg. 3) on a river boat but I declined as the "rule of engagement" was that you got to ride down the middle of the river in a plywood boat and they got to shoot first.

Expat - That must have been early to mid 70's, huh? Sounds like it turned out pretty good for you. Met yourself a hot little Med. woman and settled down. I myself was born in 70. Not trying to rub anything in. 😉
I did my time from '89 to '93. Spent my time during the first Gulf War at Fort Hood. Not the Mediterranean and I didn't meet my wife but it was an easy stint.
