Money in sock disappears

To this day, the mystery remains unsolved.

Man Puts $40 and Foot In Sock, but Loses Cash
Seattle, Dec. 4 (AP) — John E. Trimmer reported to police yesterday that before retiring Wednesday night he put $40 in his sock, bolted the door of his apartment from the inside, put the sock on his foot, climbed into bed, and went to sleep.
When he woke up in the morning, he reported, the $40 was gone, but the sock still was on his foot.

Obviously it was a militant faction of the underpants gnomes.

Beer may have been involved.

I think Expat has the answer, although there was also no mention of whether there was another occupant of the room.

Mysteriously, the money was later found in the other sock, laying on the floor.
To this day, no one knows what happened. 😊

I find the delay suspicious -- he put the money in the sock and rather than putting the sock on, he crosses the room to lock the door, and only then dons the sock. The money might have fallen out while he was carrying it, or he could have subconsciously noted when putting it on that it was inside out and so reversed it, or (doubtful but technically possible) movements during the night might have ratcheted it up out of his sock. A thorough examination of his bed clothes should have solved the mystery.

Of course, it's possible (but unlikely) the fumes from his feet so faded the ink on the bills that they looked like plain tissue paper in the morning.

He dreamt he had a donut

It was Colonel Mustard in the Billiard Room, with the candlestick.

Patty -- How did you get that donut in your comment? I've never seen that done before.

I have a Nokia Lumia 530 Windows phone and the donut is one of the emoticons available on the keyboard.

It was stolen by the inter dimensional beings who steal single socks from drawers and dryers. But when they looked inside the sock they found the cash, realized it was worth more than the sock, and returned the sock.

🍩 Figured out how to do it using the unicode characters. I hadn't realized there were so many symbols available! 🐄

Check out the Washer or the Dryer. When it comes to socks, those two are the usual suspects.
