What's extra-special about this submarine?

The answer is here.

Or after the jump.

It's a land-based simulator.

I've toured two different submarines, the U-505 German submarine at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago (a few times) and closer to home (only 25 miles north), the USS Cobia at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Cobia has overnight stays available for youth groups and it also operates as a Sub BnB. I haven't stayed overnight, though, preferring the comforts of home.

I once toured the nuclear boat my brother-in-law, at the time, served on while it was in port. I knew that it was a closed environment, close-in everything, but didn't really appreciate how closed in everything was in comparison to the outside of the boat when approaching it at the dock. It is no wonder he went crazy after a while and my sister shed him.
