I've been to a few of the spots where Van Gogh (or Gough) lived around Saint Remy de Provence and Arles. I came across a field along the road that had a walking exhibit where there were posted, as near as could be determined, places where he set up and painted the countryside. A copy of the painting was set up for you to compare the countryside against - very enlightening.

As for choosing insanity, who would that? I have enough voices in my head without choosing one that takes me down that path.

The amount of nonsense English and American writers have written about Vincent van Gogh (and yes, KDP, it is Van Gogh, not Gough, and we're no more surprised none of you can properly pronounce it any more than you expect us to properly pronounce ffarquhart or Aoibhe) is astounding. It's almost as if for some psycho-subjournalistic reason they need him to have been a complete maniac.
