Name That List, #33

What is this a list of? The answer is below in extended.

  • A lobster
  • A jock strap
  • Gallstones
  • Girl Scout cookies
  • Brooks Robinson's third base
  • Cannon Mills' one-millionth towel
  • Birth control devices
  • A 14-year-old cupcake
  • Gen. Westmoreland's hat
  • Barbecued ribs
  • A wadded-up paper bag
  • A lot of Big Macs

Answer:

They're all items that were bronzed, silvered, or gilded by the Bron-Shoe Co (aka American Bronzing Company), of Columbus, Ohio, whose main business is bronzing baby shoes.

Note that the story about an Olympic gold medalist who had his medal bronzed is apparently an urban legend.

I thought of a recluse's spare bedroom full of junk, but no. The actual reason is definitely WUvian!

With Gen. Westmoreland's hat, I had to go with the contents of the American Embassy in Hanoi after evacuation.

I wanted to say they were all honored with their own special day by some state legislature or another.

I was going to say General Westmoreland's great-nephew had a lot of things under his bed. But I doubt he ever got to 3rd base with Brooks Robinson.
