That's just mean. No redeeming qualities to the story at all.

KDP--I am totally onboard with your description of "mean" for this. But I would trace the meanness back to the woman, Lisa Birnbach, who wrote the original guidebook that labelled the students at the two colleges "ugly." The subsequent actions by the students themselves demonstrated good humor, resilience, and a desire to turn the tables on the original stupid and mean guidebook writer. Instead of whining and protesting and demanding safe spaces, they countered her with bravery and silliness.

Paul, you piqued my curiosity about the author of the "College Book." Well, a quick perusal of the Wiki entry for Miss Birnbach reveals that she is supposed to be famous for a number of humorous works. I can't say I've ever heard of any of her writing. Apparently she has never married. I wonder why.

Lisa is not exactly good looking herself, but from what I gather from her twitter account, she is pretty full of herself. I guess it's the hang around with fat friends to make yourself look trimmer syndrome, only in her case, it's find ugly people to make her look better.
