not daddy

Also Can't Possibly Be True: We're certain you're the baby's daddy, so pay up, and shut up about it
He naively signed something in 2001, and a judge says that was enough to admit paternity, but the guy says there's no way he's the daddy. However, the gov't makes him pay ($12k over 6 yrs) until a judge finally takes his side. The gov't swore early on that they had done a proper investigation and that the kid was his, yet a local newspaper reporter tracked down the real dad in less than an hour. Turns out the real father was the guy who . . was living with the child's mother. Patriot-News (Harrisburg, Pa.)

Whoa, Slow Down there, Downcrisis. There is No other Place on Earth as Consistently Weird as my Beloved "F-State." The Not-So baby's daddy should Sue the mother, the Father and the state.

Wow. The sad thing is you know this isn't a unique case. The whole "deadbeat dad" problem has caused these agencies to go from having little power to having too much. Lord Acton....

This is a case of government paper pushers not being the Sharpest knives in the bureaucratic drawer when it came to locating the correct "Sharpe".
This is the best I can do with only two coffees in me.

I have to wonder if this guy opened the letter he signed for? I know when I went to court for child support, my ex was served by the county. He never showed up to court to contest anything, so he is automatically assumed to be the father. His signature aknowledging being served was enough to put him in debt $20k. Of course, had he shown up and had we done a paternity test, it would have had the same outcome.

I don't know about that, AV. Like I said, it may be that I am here and notice it more, but Pennsylvania seems to have its fair share of oddities. Where else have you heard of a teacher (not a student) calling in a bomb threat because she didn't feel she is being allowed to teach the correct grade level. The F State has a lot, I will give it that, but we seem to make up for it in some truly bizzare stuff. No disrespect AV to Florida, but Pennsyltucky as some of us call it is right there with it. 😉
