Unclear on the Concept: The law, versus Roger Barnett
Also in Arizona this week is the trial on the federal lawsuit filed by 16 illegal immigrants against rancher Barnett for depriving them of their civil rights in a 2004 incident. And what, exactly, did Barnett do to oppress them? He confronted them at gunpoint, scared 'em, and told 'em to GTF off his ranch. For Barnett's audacity, the illegals are asking $32m (465m pesos). So, what's one to do when thousands of illegals over a 10-yr period choose your private property as their own international highway to the Promised Land? Washington Times

Please tell me that Arizona has a Shoot Now and No Questions Later law cause they sure as hell don't know the meanings of illegal and spurious.

If they win this I will be devastated.
If that many people are running through his land each year, why isn't the border patrol out there?????

Do we even really have a border patrol? I've read so much since 9/11 about how our borders aren't stopping anybody and how we have very few agents patrolling the borders. I think one article claimed one man for every 500 miles (or something ridiculous like that).

And yet we have how many jobless people? Line them up and pay them.

It's like one of those stupid American home invader laws. You know, where if I break into yourhouse with the intent to rob/rape/murder you, but slip and break my knee on your stairs, I can and will sue the pants off you.

You guys need to take your (in)justice system over your lap and give it a good spanking.

At this rate is there anyone left in Mexico? 😝

This reminds me of a story I think I read in the old News of the Weird (moment of silence, please).

---

OK. There had been several farmers whose land is very close to the border with chain link fences to keep their livestock in. The problem is the fences are so long it was easier for border crossers to cut them and go through rather than go around them. Of course once the fences are cut, the livestock would get out.

Farmers frustrated from fixing fences and losing liberated livestock settled on a satisfactory solution. They put up ladders at the most used areas so the crossers could get over easily and not harm the farm. Of course those trying to cross thought this was a set up and moved further down the fence and cut the fence there.

Gotta love it!

Holy Crap... yet another Arizona story that I knew nothing about. Now I just feel stupid.

Skitt, you're in good company around here. Welcome.

Patty, you obviously are using the wrong dictionary when looking up the word illegal.

I'm with you, Patty -- high voltage fence. I'd even be PC and put the high voltage sign in Spanish too. Maxx, the reason we have no border patrol is because we put them in jail when they do their job and try to keep illegal alien drug smugglers out of the country. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52545
