The Roll-a-Ray Fat Remover

Introduced in 1948, by 1950 the Roll-a-Ray had been banned by the FDA. It was simply two rubber rollers with an electric light bulb mounted behind them.

Fraudsters playing on the hopes and fears of their victims deserve something special in the way of punishment. Perhaps bringing back the stocks.

My mother had one of those big vibrating contraptions. There were like millions of these. You stood on the baseplate next to a motor at waist height and it was connected to a wide belt you put around your waist to (harshly) massage the fat away. Never saw it used; it had become furniture, and was eventually thrown away.
