And, did you notice that this was a full 60-second commercial? Not these 10-second spots that WHAM! BANG! BOOM! at you today.

The only time I've seen the name of Zazu Pitts was in an old Harvard Lampoon publication. I thought it was just a fabricated name to fit the story in the book.

I remembered her as an actress from the 50's. Then had to go and look her up on IMDB. She stared in movies during the silent films era then moved on to talkies.

Zasu Pitts was one of the greats. Tragedian under Erich von Stroheim; comedy farceur under many others.

I personally think she did some of her best work in the role of Hildegarde Withers in two movies: The Plot Thickens (1936) and Forty Naughty Girls (1937). Absolute classics which everyone should watch.

Maybe she should have asked Superman to rescue her from her abusive husband.

I'm wondering if George Reeves was paid anything for this. I suspect not.
