The Halfbike

It's either a half-baked idea or brilliant. I don't know which. The inventor is hoping to raise $80,000 to start producing them. From the Kickstarter page:

It’s a vehicle that combines running and cycling, which turns out to be remarkably exciting and fun for getting around the city. A bicycle revised both in terms of size and functionality, a new kind of personal vehicle designed with rider experience in mind. Halfbike is light, compact and simple. You stand upright and turn simply by leaning your body. The ride is smooth and sometimes feels like gliding.

I've got an idea! Let's put a motor on it and call it a Segway!

I'm reminded more of a unicycle with training wheels.

With a bit of speed built up on a down hill slope, the hand brake would probably lock the front tire resulting in an interesting face plant.

@BMN I thought that to then I took another look at the video, No front brake! Although the brakes back there will have little effect when all the weight is over the front wheel! :lol: :coolsmile:

@Tyrusguy
Yes, there is a reason for bikes to have rake built into the fork.
I can't count the number of 'fixie' riders I have tried to convince that simply having a rear brake is next to useless.
Stopping in a vertical position is definitely going to pose a challenge.
