The Shocking Stocking

What a brilliant invention! Mouse-killing pantyhose stockings*. These were unveiled in 1941 at the Annual Congress of the Inventors of America in Los Angeles, but they never appear to have gone into commercial production.

*Note: Pantyhose were only invented in 1953 by Allen Gant, Sr. They were brought to market in 1959.

From the photo, the mouse is only in contact with one side of the field. Just as a bird on a wire, there is no shock.

These things are made of copper wire? Bill Gates couldn't afford to by more than one pair for his wife today!?

Yea, BMN, I don't get it either and I'm the guy who doesn't believe in electricity.

As for the commercial aspect, I'll bet the inventor gave up after he made a pair for his lover and she didn't remove the stockings before they made hurried love one enchanted evening. 🐛

I hope that it is not set up so one leg is powered positive and one leg is grounded (or negative). Perhaps it would be a good rape protection device with modern stun gun technology and a remote button to activate.

Hey, BD, where would you locate the remote button? I could think of a few places that cannot be described in polite company.

Hey, KDP, when were we polite?

My capcha just happens to be "girl69".

That just figures BD!
I can not imagine that this would not shock the wearer. It would leave a burned in tat of the pattern of the stockings so it would look as if she always had them on.

For the fellows who are worried about squirrels and their fall harvest, we have a line of hand Knitted STEEL WOOL underpants. 😊

If a mouse running up your leg isn't bad enough, now you an have an electrocuted mouse hanging from your stocking. Has a mouse ever really run up anyone's leg? I've spent time in plenty of old houses, barns, cabins, etc., and have seen plenty of mice therein, but have never seen a mouse run up anyone's leg.

@ScoutC: Yes, I've seen & heard it happen. Mom was sitting on the couch knitting one evening. She was wearing a pair of shorts and pulling the yarn across her leg. The mouse must have been intrigued by the moving yarn as it climbed upon her bare knee and sat there (we don't know for how long) watching. Thinking the tickle on her knee was from the yarn Mom didn't look down but when she did all hell broke loose!

Y'all will note that I DID NOT start this story with "This is no bullsh1t" so it's true.
