The Ultimate Do It Yourself Project

It is becoming a trend to write your own obituary. There are even classes on it and kits you can buy to do it. Not a project to be taken lightly. It would require some introspection, more introspection than many of us would be comfortable with, I imagine.

I do not think I could do that myself. I would find it embarrassing. Anyone here think they might do it?

I already saw my obit.

When my dad passed away, a notice listing only name, date, and place was sent to our hometown newspaper. The guy there knew my dad as a healthy and cautious man, and he knew I was always do things that should have gotten me killed, so he ran mine (we had the same first name). (Also, I was in the service at the time, and dad passed while receiving treatment on at a base hospital because the VA didn't have the equipment for it).)

Sadly, it was just a list of facts, no editorializing at all.

Last words are easy. The obit, that is a bit harder. Hmmm. Was born, went to school, worked a lot, was underpaid and underappreciated. Died in a bizarre accident which involved farm animals, rubber bands and several pillars of the community.

Wow! I've not thought of chickens in a long time. Partly that's because it's watermelon season but that's no excuse. Chickens are 24/7/365!

I'm not sure about an obituary, but I'd like an epitaph to read "I Told You I Didn't Feel Good!"
