Back then those deer were 'harvested' for food so very little went to waste but... to mount that many racks is amazing.

Deer are not an endangered species. If anything, it's crucial for humans to manage their populations in the absence of their other, natural predators. For example, for years Maryland hunters would cull 100,000+ deer a year-- JUST from Maryland.

I should also add that some government-run cull programs donate much of the meat to food programs.

Also, with all that said, 3,000 rack in one place is *still* creepy.

@Justin: Same thing in Western Ill. Some years they're almost classified as vermin.

Reminds me of my uncle's den back in the 60's. He had probably 10 trophy size dear head, but the item I remember best was the stuffed bear. That thing was huge to a small child.
