Veteran’s Day 11/11/11

I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge an American holiday. Today is Veteran's Day, a day when we honor all those Americans, living and dead, who stood and fought for the freedoms we hold dear in this country. Regardless of one's political leanings the sacrifices of these men and women and the spouses they leave behind to tend the home fires should be respected and honored, not just today but everyday. So, if you know any veterans, take a moment today to thank them for their service to this country and for standing in the line of fire for all of us.

I am not aware of all our WU vets, but danny53, kate and Expat are definitely veterans, so to them and all others in our midst, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much, Patty. And your posting of that link is especially appropriate, as many do not know the history of the Veteran's Day observance here in the U.S.
Many other nations have specified a day of their veteran's recognition or remembrance, as well, just Google 'Remembrance Day' to get a full list.

I was never in the military, but it was nice to be recognized as a "civilian cold war worker" when they laid me off at the weapons production plant. I wore a uniform at work, and people with machine guns watched the river and guarded the gates. Somewhere there is a lead-lined casket with my name on it.

We're being TROLLED by what seems to be a rip-off business down in Australia that sells "white goods" (appliances) parts and supplies. I've been deleting them as fast as I find them.

Many thanks for your sterling labors, Expat. I've been bagging whatever I see also.
