Weird Converter

Don't you hate it when you can't remember how many Weinermobiles it would take to get to the top of the Empire State Building, or how many Shaquille O'Niels would line up along the Golden Gate Bridge? What about when you need to know how many cubic inches of air one million dollars weighs, or baby grand pianos to Airbus A380s? Or maybe you are planning a party and need to know how many human stomachs a keg of beer will fill, or you're just curious how many Space Shuttle liquid oxygen tanks it would take to fill the Grand Canyon?

Well, if you've ever had those problems, you are in luck. Go check out the Weird Converter and convert unusual units of height, weight, and volume to your heart's content.

After all the conversion values I've collected over the years for my programs it would seem that my collection is sorely hindered by the lack of these. :red:

Needs something involving bacon 😝

Well, one of you still living in the land of round doorknobs needs to go measure a strip of bacon. Then we can compute how many strips, laid end to end it would take to reach 1) around the world 2) to he moon 3) to the sun. This if you also measure the width we can compute how many strips it would take to cover a football field. Measure the thickness and we can go 3D.

Now, go do it all after you cooked it (and before you eat it) and we can recompute based on shrinkage.

I await....

I agree that there should be more bacon. I'd love to know how many strips of bacon it would take to fill the Grand Canyon...

Thanks so much for computing the bacon stats Jake. Now if we can only teach all the others who don't understand the term rasher.. hehehe .. I bet many don't know Asda is a subsidiary of the American retail giant Wal-Mart and competes with Tesco over on that side of the big pond.

jake, are you absolutely sure about that 6 inch mesurement? i only ask because many men are accustomed to passing off 4 inches as 6. :cheese:

perhaps with the bacon, but otherwise i believe it is a perception problem scout.

too many dids, sorry

yeah, but the point is the common denominator. The measurement of the erectile state is only limited by the imagination of the bearer or user, much like the value of money.

The American football field is 120x53.33 yards. Hence the formula: ( (120 * 36) * (53.33 * 36) ) \ ( 6 * 1.2) = 1,151,928

with mad math skills like that you don't need the converter expat! 😉

The Grand Canyon is 446 km long and an average of 16km wide and 1200m deep. So a rough estimate of its volume would be 8,560 billion cubic meters.

A quick check at my local supermarket revealed that bacon rashers are about 15cm by 3cm by 0.2cm (not counting thick cut or back). Hence it takes roughly 111 thousands rashers to make up 1 cubic meter.

So the number of bacon rashers needed to fill the Grand Canyon would be 951,466,000,000,000,000.

Also, I don't recommend taking a tape measure to the supermarket. People give you some very funny looks when you start using it to measure packets of bacon. :red:

if you think you got some weird looks measuring bacon, go to produce and measure a couple of cucumbers and zucchinis!

Film at 11, Patty?

yeah!

Reminds me of when you buy a bull or a ram.

Always check that their testicles are both the same size and equally firm, neither one should hang significantly lower than the other and both should be able to move around freely. If the animal reacts badly to a gentle squeeze then there may possibly be a problem with its genetalia, either that or your hands are cold.

hubby hates it when i have cold hands!

Dumbfounded -

Thanks for the information, but you really didn't need to figure out the volume of the Grand Canyon - its one of the units in the Weird Converter. They put the number at well over ten trillion cubic meters, which would give the total 1,156,670,455,954,650,000. That's over one quintillion slices of bacon (not far off from the number you got by estimating). Now that's a lot of bacon.

Is anyone else craving Denny's right about now?
