Yuppers, its made from road apples. I haven't seen any in a long time but it used to be that they had them at practically every roadside souvenir shop. The actual turd would be lacquered and they used twigs stuck into the turd for the rest.

I've seen caterpillars made from deer droppings and a fancy candy box of road apples. But we, as Americans, shouldn't be put off by stuff like this, the administration has been feeding us on it for quite a while now.
