When I first read the story I thought, nah, that can't be true. It sounds too much like some kind of urban legend about a date gone nightmarishly wrong. But the BBC has confirmed it, as has the local Fire and Rescue service.

Somehow I don't get the impression that it "would not flush." I believe that what she really needed was a box of matches to save her embarrassment.

Can you imagine, if the two do stay together, what they would tell their children/grandchildren years down the road about how they got together? I would love to see the faces of such children when facing that story.
