Liquid Nitrogen
Gaby Scanlon just wanted to have a good time on her 18th birthday. Since she lives in England she went to a wine bar with friends and ordered a cool looking drink that was prepared with liquid nitrogen to give it a steaming effect. But she consumed it too soon, before the chemical could completely dissipate. She began having severe stomach pains and was taken to the hospital where her stomach had to be removed due to the damage done by the liquid nitrogen she accidentally consumed. Some novelties are just not worth the risk.

Blue Honey
Bee keepers in northeastern France were at first puzzled why their bees started to produce blue and green honey. They finally figured out that the bees were picking up dyes from a local M&M plant. The colored honey looks pretty cool, but the bee keepers have decided that it's unsellable. nbcnews.com

1000-Year-Old Irish Joke
This joke was found in a manuscript now preserved in the British Library. The language of the joke (Old Irish) indicates that it was written about a thousand years ago. The text is translated by Dennis King. So were those medieval Irish monks funny or not?They did not speak to one another for the space of a year. Then one of the men said to another at the end of the year, "We are well," said he.
Thus it was for another year. "It is well indeed," said the second man.
They were there after that for another year. "I swear by my habit," said the third man, "if you do not allow me some quiet I will abandon the wilderness entirely to you!"

Swiss Cows Text When Horny
The latest in weird cow news: a sensor implanted in some Swiss cows can detect when the cows are in heat. It sends a text message to the farmer when the cow is in the mood, who can then arrange to have a bull brought in to mate. Apparently this is all necessary because cows are in the mood far less often nowadays (the cow version of 'not tonight, I've got a headache') because of the stress of farmers constantly milking them.
