Avoiding H1N1 Religiously

First a little background for those non-catholic wu-vians. By the doors in catholic churches there are fonts containing holy water. Upon entering and leaving worshippers dip a finger in the holy water and cross themselves. Recently in some places the church has suspended this age old practice due to the fear of spreading the H1N1 virus. Now Italian inventer/catholic, Luciano Marabese, has supplied the solution. He felt fear was damaging church traditions so he built a holy water dispenser. It works like a public restroom soap dispenser, the parishioner waves their hand under the dispenser and a sensor makes it spray out holy water. The invention is being used in a church in Fornaci di Briosco, a northern Italian town. But since more churches are suspending the rite Luciano has been receiving orders for the dispenser from around the world. Yes, he does charge for them, apparently he's not THAT religious.

Invent seems to be a bit overused here. Redesigned may fit better. Anyhow, why would "The Church" think that God would allow his holy water, which is bane to demons, to be used to spread this insidious disease that has wiped out whole families and decimated whole cities? Why I can hear the death cart's bell already this AM coming down my street with its ghoulish load.

This isn't the first time the Roman church has suspended Holy Water disbursal due to threat of Pandemic; they did so during the Swine Flu outbreak back in '76, and there have been several other more localized decisions to empty Holy Water fonts due to outbreaks of various illnesses.

i thought about the whole god not letting holy water spread disease too expat. apparently what's good for the soul is not always good for the body. 😉

the seasonal flu comparison is what healthcare workers have been quietly saying for a while now. the very young and very old are always harder hit, but healthy adults and children (not babies) will fair well if they use normal precautions and common sense. the media drumming up hysterical fear and the government pushing virtually untested vaccines that may well do more harm than good (unknown side effects)does not serve the masses well at all. i agree about using the holy water dispensers all the time dumbfounded, that would be a reasonable precaution. either that or the priests could start blessing hand sanitizer. 😊

i think the 2 graphs show that people aren't as careful as they should be, in general, all the time. everyone being careful not to touch their faces after handling money, till they wash their hands would, i'm betting, significantly drop those numbers. that's just one thing we rarely even think about. in healthcare the elderly in nursing homes are exposed to not only their own visitors but also everyone elses. then once 1 person is sick it just takes poor hand washing by even 1 member of staff to pass it around.
as to the phone call, welcome to my world i spend half my life distracted, i think i have mild add. 😊
